Miss Debbie, Director; MDO 2 and MDO 3
Debbie Packnick earned her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and English at Fairfield University, worked for 6 years in Public Relations for a medical supply company and then chose to stay home and raise her three children. She kept busy volunteering in the community and through her church and began Directing the Christian Education Program for children, youth and adults at Nichols United Methodist Church in 2002. She joined the Mother’s Day Out Staff in 2009 and currently serves as Director of the program. She is also employed by the Covenant Church of Easton as their Student Ministries Pastor. Debbie loves exercise (taught fitness classes for 15 years), youth ministry, leading Bible studies and spending time with her family. She and her husband Rob have been married for 25 years, have three children (Kyle and Craig are in college and Ally is in HS), two dogs (Zoey and Chloe) and live in Shelton, CT.
Miss Lisa, Head Teacher (MDO 2 & 3) and Lead Teacher; MDO 2
Lisa Peters started out intending to get her Veterinary degree, but after rescuing/training dogs to service the deaf and hearing impaired, she switched gears and began her own dog grooming salon/training facility. Lisa began participating in dog shows with one of her rescues and loved it so much, she continues to show her dogs today. Lisa and her husband Ken have three children and she keeps busy helping out with each of the family businesses including a grocery store, a bakery, landscaping and beekeeping companies. Lisa has led the Children’s Choir at Nichols United Methodist Church in addition to teaching Sunday School to preschoolers. Her children attended MDO and after they graduated, she joined the MDO Staff in 2000. Several years ago, she went back to college to get her Early Childhood Education Certification.
Miss Margaret, Lead Teacher; MDO 2
Margaret O’Malley graduated from Western Kentucky University with a B.A. in journalism and economics and worked eight years as a newspaper copyeditor at the Dallas Times Herald and Miami Herald. She left journalism in 1990 after the birth of her first child. Margaret, her husband, Mike, and their two daughters moved to Minnesota in 1993, where she took Early Childhood Family Education classes through the local school district. The family moved to Trumbull in 1996, and Margaret has worked with children as a Girl Scout leader, school volunteer, PTA officer and the assistant superintendent of the education program at Nichols United Methodist Church. She has been the nursery coordinator at NUMC since 2000, and joined Mother’s Day Out in 2004 after working as a sub the previous year. Margaret hates to exercise but is a sports fanatic and takes off most years to attend the Final Four.
Miss Paula, Lead and Assistant Teacher; MDO 2
Paula graduated from Southern CT State University with a BA degree in Liberal Studies and minors in Education, Psychology and Sociology. She began her work with young children at the Fairfield YMCA teaching in their 2 year old program and eventually moved to the Children’s Community, a multicultural daycare center run through St Luke’s Lifeworks where she served as Head Teacher/Assistant Director. After her daughter was born, Paula made the decision to put her professional career on hold and stay home to raise her children. She spent many years volunteering in the Shelton public school system and recently began substituting at MDO and is excited to officially join our staff. Paula lives in Shelton with her husband Kevin of 18 years and their 2 children. She enjoys reading and scrapbooking and spending time on the beach with her kids.
Miss Mary Beth, Assistant Teacher; MDO 2
After graduating from Florida Atlantic University with a degree in Business, Mary Beth Mussatto began a career in marketing/advertising/promotions. She enjoyed working for companies such as Tennis Magazine and Pilot Pen Tennis Tournament until she and her husband Mike had their two daughters and Mary Beth decided to become a full-time mom. She kept active volunteering in her community and coordinated/chaired positions with the PTA, the school library and the Girl Scouts. She’s served in leadership at her church (St. Paul’s Episcopal in Huntington Center) for several children’s ministries including Sunday School and Vacation Bible School. Mary Beth enjoys cooking, going to the beach and rollerblading. She and her husband Mike have been married for 20 years and live in Shelton, CT.
Miss Christine, Teacher Assistant; MDO 2
Christine Turner graduated from Ferrum College in Virginia with a BS in Education (certified K-6) and a minor in Behavioral Science and Agriculture. She has taught religious education for St. Margaret Mary for the past 6 years and tutored for the Trumbull Board of Education and various other clients. Christine and her husband John have been married 24 years and live with their 4 children (Maggie, Julie, Rebecca and Johnny) in Shelton, CT. Their oldest, Maggie attends Northeastern University in Boston and their youngest will begin Kindergarten this year! As one of 11 children (our very own Miss Mary is one of them), Christine has been taking care of young children her whole life, and it’s one of her greatest joys!
Miss Maria, Lead Teacher; MDO 3
Maria Schaab earned her Bachelor’s degree in Business from SUNY Oneonta and worked in marketing for five years for the TNN and CMT networks. She went back to school for a Masters in Elementary and Special Education at Manhattanville College and eventually decided to put her career on hold to stay at home with her daughters. During that time, she volunteered as a Girl Scout leader and taught Junior Achievement. She also worked part-time as a tutor and dog walker. Maria joined MDO in 2011 and is thrilled to be back to teaching. She and her husband Rob, two daughters, two dogs and one Russian tortoise live in Trumbull. Maria loves travel, photography, cooking and riding the waves at the Jersey Shore with her family.
Miss Roseanne, Teacher Assistant; MDO 3
Roseanne Ciancetta graduated from the College of Mount Saint Vincent with a B.A. in Sociology and concentration in Business. She worked as a Recruiter in a job placement company until her first child, Victor was born. Once her youngest child, Andrew, was in first grade she started working for Kiddie Campus Pre-School in Monroe. She worked there for eight years and still loves to see the children she worked with and their parents around town. Roseanne began substituting at MDO and is now so happy to be a part of our staff. She and her husband Vic have been married for 27 years, have three children and a dog named Charlie. She enjoys taking long walks, reading and vacationing at the New Jersey shore.
Miss Mary Teacher Assistant; MDO 2 and 3
Mary F. Scuilla graduated from The University of New Haven with a B.S. in Business Administration, Finance, and Marketing. She has worked for Sikorsky Aircraft, the State of Connecticut, Beazley Realty, and helped run a family construction company. Since the birth of her three children she served as a volunteer for the PTA/PTSO, Religious Ed, Junior Achievement, SYSO, SNLL and many other local organizations. Mary also worked as a reading tutor in the Shelton School system for 5 years. She loves to garden, landscape design, read, but most of all she enjoys being with her family Katie 22, Sarah 18, Louis 9, and Louis husband of 25 years.
